“Learn to program and program to learn.”
This challenge is a new, stimulating and fun contest, inspired by the Bebras contest that is dedicated to end of primary and secondary school pupils. It is of course open to secondary school pupils, but two other categories are available: IT students and IT professionals. What better way than to become the Belgian champion of problem solving, behind which an IT concept is hiding every time?
This challenge aims at stimulating your ability to solve small challenges, presented in the form of multiple choice questions, which each hide a computer science concept. It will allow you to warm up your brain, to learn things related to computer science and to measure yourself against all the other Belgians.
The challenge, co-organised with our partner EDITx, takes place in two phases, described below. Moreover, there are several categories for the challenge:
During the first phase, which is open for six weeks from March 25, 2019 to May 3, 2019, the contestant must answer a maximum number of questions within 15 minutes, with a maximum of 15 questions, to collect a maximum of points. There are 4 easy questions (1 point), 7 medium questions (2 points) and finally 4 difficult questions (3 points). Also, any wrong answer is penalised by a negative point. Each contestant passes this challenge whenever he/she wishes, on the EDITx platform available online.
The 15 best contestants from each of the three categories (secondary school students, IT students and IT professionals) are then invited to the second phase, a big final to be held in Brussels, at the ECAM Brussels Engineering School, on May 11, 2019 at 11am, as part of the Computer Science Day 2019. Contestants will compete to get to the first place of their respective categories and win prizes.
The first phase of the challenge takes place online on the EDITx platform, and the final will take place at the ECAM Brussels School of Engineering. For more detailed information on how to reach the venue place with public transportation or by car, visit the Computer Science Day 2019 page.
